2004 FISHING REPORTS

COD TRIPS

December, 2004

RELENTLESS has been fishing, as weather permits, west of Stellwagen Bank and only an hour and a half from our winter Boston docks. The action has been excellent with large cod coming over the rail providing patrons with plenty of fresh fillets for the winter. We still have plenty of openings for both shared and private charters and will only leave the dock if the weather permits. All fish have been caught on Norwegian jigs averaging 15 lbs with many 30 to 50 pounders coming over the rail.

In the early spring we will move back to our Green Harbor location for the spring, summer and fall seasons. Excellent dates are still available for the warmer weather.

We will be running both shared and private trips throughout the winter and are NOW TAKING RESERVATIONS for the winter and spring. Don't end up missing out on some great cod fishing. If you are interested in one of these trips, drop us a line.

Happy Holidays!

COD TRIPS

Thursday November 18, 2004

&

Saturday November 20, 2004

Captain Dave Waldrip of the RELENTLESS fished on Thursday, November 18th at the Dumping Grounds with repeat charter Doug Johnson and his party from the Cape May, NJ area. The group of six had an excellent day catching cod on jigs and bait up to 35 LBS. Most of the fish averaged 15-20 LBS with several exceeding the 20 LB mark on the scale. These fish were picky but patience by a group of experienced anglers was the key to a successful day. Doug is already planning a spring and fall cod trip aboard RELENTLESS next year.

On Saturday, November 20th, Anthony Lapopolo, was aboard with a party of five including his father Vito who is in his seventies and was a commercial fisherman in Italy prior to coming to the United States. Well Vito showed the youngsters how it is done, landing the first fish of the day, a fat 45 LB cod on a fresh sea clam and had another one over 30LBS on a jig. The fishing was a little slow but the fish were large providing everyone with tasty fillets for the dinner table. Dave said fishing with bait was tough because of the pesky dogfish still in the area with water temperatures at 48 degrees.

Captain Dave will now be fishing out of Boston for the winter months running both shared and private charters departing from Shipyard Quarters Marina in Charlestown. There is plenty of free parking and this location is close to the grounds for the winter months. Our enclosed cabin is kept warm and comfortable with a heater providing anglers the opportunity to fish for cod while their own boats are under wraps for the winter. Our shared (open boat) charters provide a chance for anglers to get out without the hassle of putting together their own larger party.

COD TRIP

Saturday July 10, 2004

Another fine Stellwagen cod lands on the decks of RELENTLESS

On Saturday, July 10th, RELENTLESS fished east of Stellwagen Bank with the Doug Johnson party from Marlton, NJ on a day with flat calm waters and little wind. Unfortunately, these anglers had to cancel in the spring after a foul weather day. But today's fishing made it worth the wait. This great group of guys caught several cod to 25 lbs, Cusk to 15 lbs, wolf fish and almost 50 haddock to split between them giving each a decent bag of fillets.

Another haddock for the dinner table

Using bait for the day was the key and believe it or not, we did not pull a single pesky dogfish over the rail the entire day. Doug and his party were an awesome group busting each other every chance they could. After driving through the night to get here for a great day of fishing, they finally managed a little siesta on the way back in from the cod grounds. They had such a good time, they booked another cod trip for some of our awesome November cod fishing. Currently we are fishing for both large striped bass and codfish.

Remember we are now located at Green Harbor Marina and still have good dates available including weekends. We can assist you with lodging and your plans for a great time. If you would like to discuss booking a trip either private or a shared cod fishing charter, please drop me a line.

STRIPED BASS TRIPS

Early July, 2004

These past few weeks after RELENTLESS' annual haul out, things have been heating up with striped bass fishing and improving cod fishing conditions. We have been fishing the Race Point area off the tip of Cape Cod for some outstanding striped bass. The catches are getting better every day with the best yet to come. On the 4th of July, taking a day off (Busman's Holiday), family members coaxed me to take them fishing, landing fish to 38" using jigs and wire line. Last week the Mike Ristorigno party from Norwood, MA, limited out on fish to 44" and picked up a few bluefish in the mix.

If you are interested in a cod or striped bass charter out of scenic Green Harbor in Marshfield, MA, please send us an e-mail or call us anytime. The crew of the RELENTLESS hopes everyone had a great holiday.

Richard Tessier with one his many large cod
he caught throughout the day

Today fishing aboard RELENTLESS was Richard and Julie Tessier from Rhode Island, Dick Fox also of Rhode Island and Olaf Casperson and his friend Dave from Hartford, CT. Fishing just south of Stellwagen Bank, this group landed several nice cod fish in the mid teen class with the largest being caught by Rich Tessier topping the scale at 21 LBS. Each member of the party landed several nice white bellied cod fish throughout the day. All the fish today were caught on jigs and teasers. These fish were hungry and had full bellies of herring and sand eels. It was a great day on board and during the ride home this party was treated to a show of dolphins jumping clear out of the water as they rode the wake of RELENTLESS.

If you are interested in fishing with us out of Green Harbor this spring and summer, please give us a call.

COD TRIPS

Thursday,Friday,Saturday April 8-10, 2004

Fishing out of Green Harbor this week, anglers aboard RELENTLESS had a great time fishing for cod on Stellwagen Bank. On Thursday a shared charter between the John Hurlebaus party from Hanson, MA and and the Steve Georgeopoulos party from Melrose, MA fished deep water east of Stellwagen Bank limiting out on cod and haddock to 15 lbs. using jigs and bait. On Friday the Rich Hittinger party from Warwick, RI limited out on the shoal waters using clams, doubling up quite often landing cod to 12 lbs. and haddock earlier in the day in the deep water. High hook of the day was 70 year old Jerry Masse who taught the youngsters a thing or two. On Saturday, fishing the shoal waters, the Patrick Daley party from Orange, CT caught near legal limits of cod using clams. It was a day to remember with a pair of father and sons aboard for one of those lifetime memories. Patrick and his son Buck each were tied for high hook with nine large cod a piece. The herring are now moving in and the fish are right behind them with the best action yet to come. If you would like to get out on a shared or private charter, contact Captain Dave.
